Attorney Roy E. Leonard
Roy Leonard has been a trial lawyer from the beginning of his career and focuses on general civil litigation with a concentration on complex commercial lawsuits and disputes, including business torts, contract disputes, and intellectual property enforcement issues. Roy has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in unfair competition, trade secret, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), insurance, copyright, trademark, securities, shareholder disputes, healthcare, construction, toxic tort and products liability lawsuits. He has broad experience in mass tort and products liability litigation and has been lead trial counsel in nation-wide asbestos-related litigation. He has litigated extensively in courts in Pennsylvania and Ohio, as well as California, Illinois, Florida, Michigan, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and West Virginia.
As counsel for Internet retailers for over a decade, Roy has built upon his background in commercial litigation to develop a practice in e-commerce and technology. The combination of experience in litigation and e-commerce transactions has enhanced the delivery of legal services in both. The transactional services that Roy provides include the negotiating and drafting of asset purchase agreements, license agreements, terms of use and privacy policies, copyright registration, and employment agreements that protect employer's competitive position in the marketplace and trade secrets.
Through extensive experience with electronic discovery acquired in complex litigation and a keen understanding of technology, Roy regularly advises clients regarding document retention, electronic document policies and protocols, litigation hold policies and procedures, and the production and review of electronically stored information.
