The law firm of Stonecipher, Cunningham, Beard & Schmitt, P.C. (the "Firm") began in 1908 as Stonecipher & Ralston. From its inception, it specialized in corporate, commercial and insolvency matters. In the 1930s it became Stonecipher & Cunningham and in 1962, Stonecipher, Cunningham, Beard & Schmitt. Over its history, the Firm has not only refined its original specialties, but has expanded its practice into other areas of the law.
The Firm has been committed to remaining small and stable. The two senior partners have been practicing together since 1962 and nearly all of the other partners and associates have worked for the Firm for their entire legal careers. The legal administrator was with the Firm for over 25 years, and the average tenure of the Firm's support staff is more than 15 years. In today's business environment, the members of the Firm are proud of this unique stability, not only because it provides an ideal working environment for all of the employees, but also because it allows the Firm to serve its clients better. The long-term interaction of the attorneys encourages continual refinement and expansion of their areas of expertise, and the unusual stability of the support staff has engendered an interest in the Firm as a permanent career. The support staff has worked together to develop highly sophisticated computer skills, including the use of databases and spreadsheets and the automation of many routine duties. The legal expertise of the attorneys coupled with such technological capabilities enables the Firm to handle matters large and small with equal economy and efficiency.
